Applications of AI in Healthcare pose a number of challenges and considerations which differ substantially from other business verticals. We conducted an industry survey specifically about AI in healthcare, to understand more about current trends and issues. A total of 373 respondents from 49 countries participated in the survey. A quarter of all respondents (27%) held Technical Leadership roles. This survey was conducted in collaboration1 with John Snow Labs.
Here are a few highlights:
Foundational technologies: When asked what technologies they plan to have in place by the end of 2021, close to half cited data integration. About one-third cited natural language processing, and business intelligence among the technologies they are currently using or plan to use by the end of the year.
Users of AI Technologies: When asked who the intended users are for AI tools and technologies, over half of all respondents signalled Clinicians among their target users.
Software for Building AI Solutions: The most popular forms of software being used to build AI solutions in healthcare are open source software (53%) and public cloud providers (42%). Looking ahead 1-2 years, respondents indicated openness to also using both Commercial Software and Commercial SaaS.
